Costa Calida

Murcia is known as the 'capital of Baroque' as no other Spanish city can equal the number of monuments built in this style. Everywhere can be found churches and civil buildings with facades of curvilinear and exuberant decoration. The town is ennobled by palaces and stately houses almost all of which are situated in the area around the lively and bubbling streets of La Traperia and La Plateria, the main arteries of the old quarter. Murcia boasts the best shopping in the region and a visit is highly recommended.

Mar Menor is a privileged spot on the Spanish Mediterranean coast, an indentation in the coastline where the water enters in order to form a huge bay, separated from the Mediterranean itself by a long and narrow sandy barrier - the Manga del Mar Menor. This gigantic lake with still and smooth waters, dotted with tiny islands, has around its shores a multitude of singular landscapes. The warm waters of the Mar Menor, rich in mineral salts and iodine, offer a simple and natural relief for people suffering from circulatory problems or rheumatism. Healthy baths, radiant sun, aquatic sports, agreeable surroundings and select cuisine are some of the chief attractions of this area all of which can be enjoyed the whole year round given the constantly mild temperatures.

Cartagena was founded by the Carthaginian General Hasdrubal. Cartagena was conquered by Rome in the year 209 BC by Publius Cornelius Scipio who gave it the name Cartago Nova (new Carthage). Despite the town being devastated over the years by Arabs and vandals, it did recover its original grandeur and its ancient Roman castle was rebuilt and enlarged. Today you will find a busy port and picturesque harbour surrounded by bars and cafes. The seaside town contains many examples of religious architecture and some very outstanding pieces of art.
