Costa Blanca North

Denia is a family resort that took its name from the Roman Goddess Diana. There is little of its heady past except the remains of the 13th Century castle on the hill above the port. Majorca, Ibiza and Formentera can all be reached by ferry from here. Tree lined shopping streets and interesting alleyways make Denia a wonderful place to explore.

Javea is split between the ancient and the modern. Superb Gothic architecture in the old town contrasts with the summer bustle of El Arenal. Small coves and beaches are a strong feature together with the old fishing port of Aduanas Del Mar.

Moraira is a pretty fishing port with a modern centre adorned with shops and boutiques. The coastline contains only blue flag beaches with a few rocky inlets and a view to die for from La Punta De L' Estrella. Teulada - terraced vineyards take the town down to the sea Teulada offers the opportunity to partake in horse riding, squash, tennis and basketball and for those interested in antiques, furniture and paintings, the Sunday antique boot sale is a must.

Calpe Ancient and perched atop a small hill where you can look peacefully down to the scene below. The incredible rock of Ifach draws many tourists to both climb for spectacular views and to bathe in the shadow at Playa De La Fosse or Playa De Lavante which are both blue flag standard.

Altea Traveling south along the N332 coast road from Calpe, cross the Mascarat Gorge on a single span bridge to reach the wide bay of the town. Altea was important for fresh water from the nearby Algar river in days gone by and was protected by a separate cannon on the hills. Lookout points can still be seen in the town

Benidorm a small fishing port some 50 years ago has now been transformed into a cosmopolitan tourist centre by people in awe of its long beaches. The Canafali Hill separates the Lavante and Poniente beaches. Both have excellent facilities along their length with Lavante being the more established of the two. Benidorm island, which can be seen from the castle in the old town, is a tantalizing ferry trip away from the shore. The theme park, Terra Mitica, is set in the hills overlooking the town and is readily accessible to all within the Costa Blanca.
